The announcement was made by SM Entertainment, NCT's label, through a notice posted Thursday on NCT 127's fan community on the Weverse app.

"NCT’s Jaehyun applied to the Army Band and received a notification of acceptance from the Military Manpower Administration today," SM said in the notice as translated by K-pop news website Soompi.

"He is scheduled to enlist as an active duty soldier on November 4 to fulfill his mandatory service," it said.

SM added that there will be no event on the day Jaehyun, whose real name is Jeong Yun-o, enters the training center.

"We ask for your unwavering support and love until the day Jaehyun completes his military service and returns in good health," the agency said.

Under South Korean law, most able-bodied men are required to serve up to 21 months in the military, as the country remains technically at war with its neighboring North.

The 27-year-old singer will become the second NCT member to enlist following the group's leader Taeyong.

Jaehyun debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT, a group with over 20 members divided into various sub-units. He is part of NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT DoJaeJung.

In August, Jaehyun debuted as a soloist with the release of the album "J."
