Careful who you assemble.

What happens when you put together 3 super-soldiers, 2 alums of Russia’s infamous Red Room, a super-villain with molecular instability and quite possibly one of the scariest OP superheroes from Marvel Comics? You get the Thunderbolts*, Marvel Studios’ latest offering in its cinematic universe.

Created by Kurt Busiek, the Thunderbolts were first presented as a team of superpowered good guys trying to save the world only to reveal that they were actually the Masters of Evil, composed of the Avengers’ greatest adversaries.

In the MCU, the Thunderbolts are a team of antiheroes who go on missions for the American government - only to find that they may be facing a threat that could destroy the entire universe.  

Sebastian Stan returns as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Captain America’s closest friend who is now the de facto leader of the Thunderbolts. With him are Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), the new Black Widow following her escape from the Red Room, her father the Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) - an assassin with photographic reflexes, John Walker a.k.a. US Agent (Wyatt Russell) - a failed super-soldier, and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), who can phase through objects.

Into the mix is a new character known only as Bob (Lewis Pullman), who transforms into the superhero Sentry - a controversial comic book character with nigh omnipotent abilities who sometimes transforms into the Void, a supervillain with god-like powers.

Jake Schreier directs Thunderbolts* with Kevin Feige producing. Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez, and former Black Widow Scarlett Johansson serve as executive producers.
