Cast members of the much-awaited season 2 of One Piece live-action series are getting closer to completion, as Netflix announced the actors who will play the characters of Vivi and Cobra.

The streaming platform announced on Friday that Charithra Chandran will play the iconic role of Nefertari Vivi, princess of the Alabasta Kingdom.

Spoiler alert! The succeeding parts contain spoilers for those who are not updated on the anime or manga.

Initially, Vivi will be known to the audience as Miss Wednesday of the Baroque Works, a criminal syndicate led by the warlord Crocodile.

She infiltrated the organization to learn the true identity of the organization that she believed was responsible for the decline of Alabasta and the threat of civil war.

The casting announcement was made after weeks of rumors that Chandran will play the role of Vivi since she was reportedly spotted with some cast members of the series in South Africa, where the show is being filmed.

Earlier on Thursday, it was announced that Sendhil Ramamurthy will play the role of Nefertari Cobra, king of Alabasta and father of Vivi.

Chandran recently starred in the popular Netflix period drama Bridgerton as Edwina Sharma. Ramamurthy, on the other hand, was best known for his roles in the sci-fi drama Heroes and the TV series Beauty & the Beast.

One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda announced that season 2 of the live action will cover Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island. This means that the major story arc of Alabasta will have to wait for a possible season 3.

The first season of the live-action topped in over 80 countries — a rare success compared to the brutal negative reviews for many previous live-action adaptations of popular anime and manga series.

Its debut saw the charismatic portrayal of Iñaki Godoy as the main character Luffy, a 17-year-old boy who aspires to become the next King of the Pirates and his adventures with his crewmates.

Completing the initial roster of the Straw Hat Pirates are Mackenyu Arata, who plays swordsman Zoro, Emily Rudd as the navigator Nami, Jacob Gibson as the sniper Usopp, and Taz Skylar as the crew's cook Sanji.

The popular live-action series has followed the success of the story in both manga and anime for two decades already.

Meanwhile, here's a list of actors and their characters for season 2 as previously announced by Netflix:
