MANILA — Sarah Geronimo's 2014 cover of the ballad "Maybe This Time" is trending online but not with emotional or core edits but as a dance trend.

The viral part of the song is the bridge which goes: "She's smilin' like she used to smile way back then, She's feelin' like she used to feel way back when, They tried, but somethin' kept them, Waiting for this magic moment."

Netizens point to TikTok user @donotdisturb869 for starting the trend.

His twists and turns made the song viral and had celebrities doing the trend.

The trend feels like a person happily grooving to a sad ballad with the signature "kaldag" move.

Some of the personalities include Andrea Brillantes, Stell Ajero of SB19, Cong TV and Viy Cortez of Team Payaman, Sheena Catacutan of BINI, among others.

The virality of the track saw the song enter the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart at No. 41.

Originally performed by Michael Martin Murphey, Geronimo recorded her own version of "Maybe This Time" for her 2014 film of the same title co-starring Coco Martin.

With its short-form video format, dance trends has been a common content on TikTok and usually helps a song gain popularity online being a game changer in the music industry as said in an article by Business Insider.
