MANILA - "Sunshine," the new film starring actress-singer Maris Racal, will hit Philippine cinemas soon after being included as an entry in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this September.

Star Magic made the announcement in a social media post which included the movie's poster designed by Justin Besana.

Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, "Sunshine" follows the story of "a young gymnast who finds out she is pregnant on the week of the national team tryouts. On her way to a seller of illegal abortion drugs, she meets a mysterious girl who eerily talks like her."

The film was  produced by ANIMA Studios and Project 8 Projects.

In her previous post, Jadaone expressed her gratitude for the film's milestone.

"It’s out!!!! SUNSHINE’s world premiere is at TIFF (Centrepiece section) ... sorry na ma first time ko ... thank you everybody who helped me develop and make this," Jadaone shared.
