MANILA  -- The creator of the hit Filipino boys' love (BL) series "Gameboys" Ivan Payawal is back for another series to watch out for.

Produced by The IdeaFirst Company, the new BL series "Open Secrets" will have six episodes and stars Tommy Alejandrino, Kiel Aguilar, and Markus Patterson.

The story revolves three young men who soon discover the unconditional side of love with an effeminate gay character which will give a different flavor to its audience.

During the media conference on Friday, Payawal described his new project as different from the massive hit of "Gameboys."

"You can consider it as a boys' love genre pero I think mas light ito compared sa 'Gameboys.' Kasi doon it talked about the pandemic, it talked about certain death sa family because of COVID so medyo mas seryoso and sensitive kasi kung ano ang pinagdadaanan ng characters, 'yun din ang pinagdaraanan natin at that time," the director said.

Since "Gameboys" has pioneered the BL series in the country, the director admits he feels pressured to create new series.

"Always naman pong may pressure sa bawat project na gagawin and yes this was lined produced by The IdeaFirst with Viva. Ang dapat pa nilang abangan bukod sa trailer, of course, this has a new flavor and this was the first time I worked with these actors. So 'yun ang pinaka na-excite ako and for some reason laging mga baguhan na artista ang nakakasama," Payawal said.

As the director has found a new platform with Vivamax Plus to showcase his new series, Payawal reveals he made some adjustments to how he delivered his story to the audience of the streaming platform.

"I know naman na nasa Vivamax 'yung platform, pero wala namang ganun klaseng kind of push or requirement na dapat ganito. I think we focused more on the story and then kung ano man ang mag-unfold doon sa kuwento 'yun lang 'yung idi-deliver. But in terms of intensity may kissing scene, may intimate scene na dito. I was very aware naman kung saan kami nagpapalabas pero hindi ko naman sinara na 'dapat ganto.' Parang at the end of the day we foucused on the story kung ano ang requirment nila," he said.

"Pretty Boys" is the first episode of "Open Secrets" and is now available for streaming on the Vivamax Plus streaming platform.
