MANILA – The upcoming movie “Fatherland” directed by award-winning director Joel Lamangan will feature seasoned actors and actresses from the industry.

Produced by BenTria Productions and Heaven's Best Entertainment, “Fatherland” stars Inigo Pascual, Arabella Davao, Allen Dizon, Cherry Pie Picache, Mercedes Cabral, Angel Aquino, Ara Mina, Max Eigenmann, Jeric Gonzales, and more.

During a press conference on Saturday, Lamangan introduced the movie, explaining that it revolves around a son (played by Pascual), embarking on a quest to find his father, which ultimately leads to the discovery and awareness of his homeland, known as the "Fatherland."

“Ang Fatherland is about a son searching for his father. Lumaki siya sa Amerika, kinuha siya ng nanay niya, namatay na yung nanay niya. Gusto niya ma-experience makilala ang tatay niya,” Lamangan said.

“Habang hinahanap ang tatay, nakikilala ng bata ang bayang iniwan niya.  Nae-expose ang bata sa bayan niya. Ano ang nangyayari sa bayan niya, ano ang problema ng bayan niya sa kasalukuyan,” he added.

Lamangan said the movie will feature three different subplots, each of which will involve a lot of characters – making it challenging.

“Ang structure ng movie may tatlong storya na nakapaloob, kaya napakarami nating artista. Sila ay mag aappear sa tatlong maliliit na storya sa loob ng isang pelikula,” he said.

“Maraming challenges dahil marami ‘tong artista, maraming mga characters na involve. Kung paano bibigyang buhay ang characters, ‘yun ang challenge,” he added.

Pascual and Davao revealed that it was their first time working with the award-winning director.

“Masarap sa pakiramdam nakakakaba. Syempre sobrang malaking karangalan direk Joel po and first time ko siya nameet nung isang araw. Winarningan niya na ko sabi niya basta wag ka lang malelate. ‘Pag naging strict ako don’t take it personally. Basta prepared po ako and super excited, super nervous and grateful po,” Pascual said.

“Isang karangalan makatrabaho ang isang direk Joel (Lamangan) and palagi siyang nak-kuwento ng papa ko na ibang experience yan marami kang mapupulot,” Davao said.

Cabral and Picache, who have worked with Lamangan in the Kapamilya television series “FPJ's Batang Quiapo”, said it’s refreshing to work this time in the form of a movie.

“Iba pang TV iba din pag film so excited din ako makasama siya sa pelikula and ngayon ko lang din nalaman yung character na nag-iba so this is sa akin excited na ko mabasa script, pag-aralan kung ano yung kaya kong gawin and gagawin ko dun sa character,” Cabral said.

“I’ve worked with direk Joel sabi ko nga lumaki ako sa kaniya. He’s one of the few directors that I respect and admire diba ano yan eh old school director so talagang ibang iba si direk,” Picache said.

As a response, Lamangan said he witnessed Cabral and Picache’s outstanding performance in “Batang Quiapo” which pushed him to cast the two in his movie.

“Nakita ko how good they are, nakita ko how cooperative they are, nakita ko how progressive their minds are kaya sabi ko ay I’ll direct these two kaya nandito sila ngayon sa amin,” he said.
