Whatever happened to the dream that was Rome? 

In 2000, the movie Gladiator premiered in movie theaters worldwide, becoming the second highest grossing film of the year and eventually earning 5 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe.

Now, nearly a quarter of a century later, we find out the fates of those left behind in the first film, specifically what happened to Lucius who may be the son of Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius. Instead of becoming the next emperor after the death of his uncle, Lucius (now played by Paul Mescal) has also become a gladiator, fighting the rule of emperors Caracalla and Geta which sets him on a collision course with Roman general Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal).

Also in the mix is Macrinus (Denzel Washington), who has his own plans for his stable of gladiators. 

From director Ridley Scott, Gladiator II opens in Philippine cinemas November 20.
