Philippine actor Piolo Pascual has urged fans to stay aware of pressing issues in society.

He made the call on the sidelines of his concert in Pensacola, Florida, one of his stops for his tour in the United States.

The actor said his message resonates with the theme of "Pamilya Sagrado," an ABS-CBN Primetime series, where he plays the role of a provincial governor.

"I grew up apathetic [and] my mom did not want me to get involved in politics," Pascual said. "But as I grew older, I realized this is my nation and I have to do something about it."

Pascual said he agreed to take the role in the project as it "mirrors what is happening in our society and we want to be aware."

"If we want to do something about it, it is up to us," he added. "But what we are trying to do is to expose them to what happens not just in the Philippines but also globally.”

In his Florida concert, Pascual serenaded his Filipino-American fans with music from different genres. His much-awaited concert tour will also take place in Washington state, Texas, as well as in Maryland.

He delighted fans by giving flowers to the ladies in attendance and sang songs of his fellow artists like Philippine concert king Martin Nievera.

The event's organizers were happy seeing Fil-Ams come together as a family to support Filipino artists like Pascual.

"This is unity for Filipino-Americans," said Flor Ducat Johnson.

Allan Salamat, meanwhile, said: "There are many retirees here in Pensacola. Every time there are events like this, that's when they all gather and see friends from far away. So, it's really important that we do this more often."

The concert also served as a nostalgic journey through Pascual's three-decade career in show business and featured highlights from his all-time favorite Star Cinema movies.

The Kapamilya actor said he relishes the chance to pay his success forward by mentoring young actors from Pamilya Sagrado, Kylie Echarri and Grae Fernandez.

"I saw myself in them when I was just starting out," said Pascual. "It is a breath of fresh air and I am revived because I see how they process what they are doing. Everyone, not just Grae and Kylie, is giving their A-game."

Pascual will be back in the U.S. with other Kapamilya artists for the "ASAP Natin 'To" concert in Ontario, California on Aug. 3.
