MANILA -- Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson lent a helping hand to a stranded family in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Quezon City amidst the havoc caused by heavy monsoon rains and Typhoon Carina.

The actor was spotted carrying a child through flooded waters.

Rachelle Joy Kabayao, the uploader of the video, said her sister sent her the footage. According to Cabayao, her family had been waiting for rescue for nearly three hours when Anderson and other men arrived to offer their assistance.

"Mga 11:00 a.m., nag-ask na sila sa barangay. Kaso, hindi nila ma-contact, then tumawag ulit sila. Wala pa daw available na boat. Mga 1:30 p.m., si Gerald nag-rescue sa kanila," Kabayao narrated.

The unexpected flooding in the area left the family stranded and in need of assistance.

Anderson is known to have a basketball court in the area.

Metro Manila on Wednesday declared a state of calamity due to the severe inundation unleashed by habagat. The heavy monsoon rains could persist util Thursday, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
