MANILA -- Content creator and entrepreneur Dani Barretto-Panlilio and husband Xavi Panlilio, who have been together for seven years and married for five, feel "blessed" to be experiencing “new beginnings” half a decade into their marriage.

The happily married couple shared they are expecting their second child, a boy,  this year.

“We thought we weren't ready. We didn’t plan to have a baby this year. Although it is God’s will. We are happy after we found out tuloy tuloy blessing. Parang naback-up kami ni God,” Dani said in an interview during the birthday party of Kryzl, the 8-year-old CEO of a health and wellness brand, in Taguig City, Monday.

"Yes! When we found out it was a boy we were like ‘We are done...’ I think we are more ready now. We both grew up individually, and as a couple," Xavi added.

The Panlilios said that their four-year-old daughter Millie might not yet be ready to share them, however.

“When we ask her she says ‘no,’ but she asks to buy baby toys already,” Xavi explained.

“Nagpapa-baby siya now. Nararamdaman niya siguro. Natutulog na sa amin. Nakakapit lagi. Baka nakakaramdam na. Babies are very smart. As much as possible we spend time with her,” Dani chimed in.

According to the pair, they are also enjoying “new beginnings” with their daughter, who finally started talking last year.

“Improving na, nakikipag kwentuhan na, nagsasalita na. It was a struggle for the past 5 years. But seeing her talk to us, every single word naiiyak kami. Every improvement, it is like she is one again. Parang 'di ba if one year old naiiyak ka if may bago ginagawa— late kami eh. Ngayon pa lang new stuff, words, conversations,” Dani proudly enthused.

"You are not doing for yourself, you are doing it for your child. and of course at the age, the formative years are most important… Super worth it,” Xavi chimed in.

Dani revealed motherhood has changed her entirely for the better.

“Very different from who I was. Everything in my life changed— responsibilities, priorities. Parang I was able to unlock a lot of things about myself, I didn’t know I had it in me. Naging businesswoman ako bigla, dami ko pinasok na field. Halos lahat ginawa namin,” she recalled.

“Nag super-sayan mode na siya,” Xavi jokingly said.

The content creator noted that she is trying to instill the value of family in her daughter, just as her mom, Marjorie Barretto, did for her and her siblings.

“Bonding moments. Vinalue namin. Talagang my mom, she spoiled us with experience. That’s what we do, we vacation Millie, family time. We want her to feel andoon kami para always present,” she said.

Looking back, Dani admitted, they also now understands their parents more.

“Ako natatawa lang ako, if nakita namin yung bata pariwara— we are like ‘hindi na lalabas ng bahay si Millie. Hindi na siya pwede mag-gimmick. Tatawa na lng kami, kasi pinagdaanan namin yun— magulang namin ayaw kami palabasin or we are reminded there is a bigger world out there they can’t protect us from. We just want to keep her and keep her safe,” she explained.

While parenting is a challenging feat, the couple emphasized, having a reliable partner makes it much more manageable.

“We are a team, if she is busy, and I can compromise a bit, I take over and vice versa,” Xavi reasoned.

“He is [10/10]. I am blessed. He is hands on,” Dani added.
