In "The Watchers," Dakota Fanning plays Mina, a young woman who found herself lost in an Ireland forest where she meets three strangers.

To stay alive, they have to follow certain rules including standing in front of a mirror as mysterious creatures watch and stalk them.

Asked about her life as an actress while also wanting to keep things private, she said: "This has been my job for quite some time and as long as I can remember basically."

"I wouldn't change it and I also have a really wonderful, private normal life that no one would care about," Fanning added. "It’s boring, in the best way."

The actress enjoyed working on “The Watchers” especially with Ishana Night Shymalan in the filmmaker’s feature directorial debut.

Fanning added that playing interesting characters that she has not done before is what catches her attention in choosing her projects.

"This one to me is like that psychological, slow-burn suspense," she said of the new film. "I like being in all different kinds of movies and trying new things and doing new stuff. That's really what I more than anything want to always do is something I haven't done before."

Fanning's character in "The Watchers" is seen in the beginning of the film taking on a different persona as a way of dealing with life.

As someone who started as a child actress at five years old, the appeal of stepping into another life is something that still captivates the star.

"I can relate to wanting to or feeling comfortable or safe to try new things as someone else. I can understand that," Fanning said.

"The Watchers" is based on the novel by Irish author A.M. Shine.
