MANILA -- Newlyweds Nash Aguas and Mika dela Cruz opened up about their love journey from being each other's first crush to finding great love.

In a vlog posted by Bernadette Sembrano on Sunday, Aguas and dela Cruz revealed the challenges they faced as a couple and how their faith in God led them to be together again.

According to the couple after being in a relationship for six years, they broke up.

"Kasi kahit nagkikita kami parang mas nakakasama pa sa kanya in terms of emotionally," Aguas said.

Dela Cruz then shared the difficulties she faced from the death of her father who battled autoimmune disease.

"Kasi nung time na 'yon, mula pa noong pandemic that was namatay 'yung dad ko. Tapos lumabas lahat ng health conditions ko po. Siyempre it's heavy on me financially rin kasi I had to leave work kasi autoimmune disease hindi na pwedeng magpuyat. Siyempre the weight gain being conscious with yourself. I went through a lot din. Lagi niyang sinasabi sa akin na ang tagal na niya akong hindi nakikita na masaya. Feeling ko lahat tinnggal sa akin, trabaho, tapos I had to leave school din po because 'yung memory problems ko, I can not grasp any information, mental block po. So ayon pati 'yung relationship na parang constant ko, tapos noong naghiwalay kami 'what bakit pati siya?'" explained dela Cruz, who admitted to initiating the breakup.

According to Aguas even if the  breakup was painful, he took it as an answer to his prayer as he started his life's journey with God. Aguas believed that he needed to let go and let God take control.

"Masakit siya. Obviously 'yung desires ng heart ko against talaga siya, pero alam kong will ni Lord, may peace," Aguas said.

"That time when we were together, parang naging idol namin ang isa't isa. Our world revolved around each other. Hindi na namin center si Lord. It was painful but God had to do that para ma-reset kami,"  dela Cruz added.

A month after they broke up, dela Cruz wanted to fix things with Aguas, who went to meet her for closure.

Dela Cruz said Aguas was crying but there was also a sense of peace for being firm to obey God's will.

"Naalala ko po sabi niya sa akin 'wag mo akong intinidihin. 'Wag mong intindihan 'yung nararamdaman mong pain, i-seek mo lang si Lord, please. Ayusin mo muna 'yung relationship mo with Him. So ako naman nung una honestly. Kasi sobrang daming nangyari, kay daddy ko pa lang po. Medyo may tampo ako. So noong nangyari  'yon parang doon ako na-shutter na pati siya, pati siya wala na rin. ... When that happened we went our separate ways, hindi kami nagkita," dela Cruz said while crying.

After two months of not seeing each other, they found themselves meeting each other again. Through Aguas, dela Cruz was  able to encounter God and let go of her love for the actor.  

"Noong finally wala na siya sa heart ko bigla na lang kaming nagkikita out of nowhere," said dela Cruz.

Proposal with God's words

In December, it was dela Cruz's first time to ask God if He could give Aguas to her as her husband.

"Yung buong faith journey ko, mula noong nag-believe ako around September to that point I never asked for anything. Always kung ano lang ang will ni Lord. After I asked, 'Is he my husband?' sabi ko subukan ko kaya magtanong. Sabi ko 'Lord, baka po pupuwedeng siya (si Nash)?' I asked talaga. In all humbleness baka pupuwedeng siya. Kasi You know how much I love him, You know how much he loves me, baka naman po, baka pupuwedeng siya. Pero kung hindi kahit sobrang saya ko na nagkikita kami without doing anything okay lang po, please remove him immediately. I didn't think anything of this prayer. Hindi ko naman in-expect na agad-agad po and very clear and very targeted 'yung sagot Niya," she said.

"Nagising ako, nag-vibrate yung phone ko may notification it was him (Nash) nag-message siya sa akin. 'Hello, good morning, I was convicted by the Holy Spirit to  tell this to you. Tapos may verse siya inilgay sa dulo. The verse said 'Yes, ask me for anything in my name and I will do it.' The first word was 'yes.' And I asked 'is he my husband?' sinagot 'yes.' I asked 'baka pwedeng siya?' Tapos sinabi ni Lord 'sige ask anything in my name and I will do it for you.' Then and there po alam ko na siya ang mapapangasawa ko. He didn't know by that time," dela Cruz added.

In the morning of Christmas while he was doing his devotion, Aguas' questions were also answered.

"Ang pinaka-final is Proverbs 5:18 sabi, 'Rejoice in the wife of your youth,'"  says Aguas. 

"(Kaya po May 18 yung kasal) kasi Proverbs 5:18. 'Wife of my youth,' whole my life, I am not disregarding my ex hindi naman 'yon," Aguas said.

Mika Dela Cruz, Nash Aguas are now married

After reading the verse, Aguas knew that it was God's answer and that dela Cruz is the one. On January 4, Aguas went to his ex-girlfriend, dela Cruz to ask her hand in marriage.  

"Nagpunta ako sa kanya without a ring, I have my Bible with me 'yun lang. In-explain ko sa kanya everything you know last year when I was parang may wall ito 'yung mga verses na nabasa ko up to the point na nung ni-reveal sa akin 'Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife,' sabi 'rejoice in the wife of your youth' tapos 'yun na," Aguas said.

"Nag-proposed siya January 4. Nandoon lang kami sa living room, ako nakapambahay lang, tapos dala niya yung iPad niya nag-propose siya with the word of God," dela Cruz said.

On May 18, before their wedding, the two prayed together to thank God. 

In the interview, the couple also shared why they opted for an intimate wedding. 

"It's our wedding with God. Tapos gusto namin na ma-feel namin presence ni Lord, 'yung love for each other. We're not against big weddings, I think it's our personalities," Aguas said.

"We wanted to be present po. Na instead of being preoccupied sa sobrang daming guest parang we're catering to them, we wanted to be able to present with God, kasi nga it's not just our wedding. Kaming tatlo ang nandoon sa wedding. And also our families will also be present para 'yung side niya at side ko ay makapag-usap," dela Cruz said.

As newly married couple, the two just wanted to enjoy life while seeking God.

Before the interview ended, the couple addressed rumors saying that she is already pregnant.

"Wala pa. Kasi sa social media once kinasal ka, nag-gain," Aguas said.

"Sabi nga po parang four years na akong pregnant, kasi kapag autoimmune ay inflamed ka, you're puffy and everything. But we are excited kung kailan ibibigay," dela Cruz said.
