Last May 10, Megastar Sharon Cuneta and ex-senator Kiko Pangilinan filed a cyberlibel complaint against showbiz host Cristy Fermin. The couple said Fermin maligned their family, with Sharon stressing that the tipping point was when their children got affected by what Fermin said.

Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Sharon and Kiko’s daughter, Miel Pangilinan, weighed in on the complaint.

“A lot of these things that are being spread around by this person that my mom filed a case against, it leads to pretty much a lot of negative comments me and my siblings,” Miel said.

"They [r]arely show us in a good light. So it kind of, it boils over, and the audience that watches this person ended up coming to me or my sister and blaming us, or just sending hate or harrassing us. It affects us also. Parang dinamay pa kami."

Sharon earlier noted she has lost sleep over Fermin’s statements, adding that she has only filed 2 lawsuits after 40 years in showbiz. “Hindi ako mahilig sa ganito…It gets to a point kasi na it affects your children, your family. I lost sleep over it. Kasi kahit hindi totoo, parang siyempre kahit papaano may limang maniniwala," she said.

"Even my children have suffered, ang sama ng loob nila. We've been off social media partly because of this. Ayoko 'to eh. Oo artista kami, pero nasasaktan din kami. 'Pag pinipintasan ako okay lang, pero sumobra na eh," she added.

Miel added: "Obivously, my mom she’s gonna do everything to defend her kids. It was kind of her, that was her tipping point."

Miel said she has been a target of online harrassment from anonymous netizens since the 2022 election campaign period. She got used to it and has learned how to filter the voice that matters against the noise.

But the worst thing she read about her was: “I’ve been told a lot that I was a waste of genes. Diba? That’s a lot for people to, I get those comments a lot. It’s weird that I get those comments. And a lot of those came from people who don’t even know me,” she said.
