MANILA -- Awra Briguela on Sunday expressed her gratitude to "It's Showtime" host Vice Ganda, who had been a pillar of support during a difficult time in her life.

At the sidelines of the Star Magic All-Star Games at the Araneta Coliseum, Briguela recalled the altercation that she was involved in Makati last year, and credited Vice Ganda for helping her navigate the issue.

"I'm super close with Meme Vice," said Briguela. "She's the one who really pushed me to play today."

"Sobrang tutok niya sa akin. Kinukumusta niya ako palagi, and of course, sobrang concerned niya sa mental health ko. Sobrang laking part niya sa akin, kasi without her, I don't know where I am right now," she added.

Briguela was arrested in June 2023 after getting involved in a brawl in a Makati City bar. In the wake of her arrest, Vice made it clear that Briguela remains their talent.

"Ang gusto kong klaruhin ay hindi kami naghihiwalay ni Awra. Hindi ko siya iiwanan lalung-lalo na sa posisyon ng buhay niya, she needs guidance and I will be there for her," Vice said at the time.

Close to a year after the incident, Briguela says she is now in a better place, and is focused on self-improvement.

"Thankfully, pa-unti-unti, nagiging okay na ako. I'm just so happy kasi kahit papaano, may baby steps," she said. "I'm … working on myself to be better."

"Nahihirapan lang ako kaunti na mag-process sa nangyari," she admitted. "But I'm happy that I'm getting better now. I'm starting to focus on what I love, especially with dancing and volleyball."

Briguela participated in her first Star Magic All Star Games as a member of the Lady Spikers team and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to play alongside other Star Magic talents.
