Hollywood actress Liza Lapira is one of the main stars of Disney-Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.”

She credits her Filipino mother Lourdes in helping her achieve her biggest dreams while remaining true to herself.

The actress brought her mother at its world premiere to celebrate her biggest Hollywood film thus far.

"She grounds me," Lapira said of Lourdes. "She reminds me of who I am. She also has instilled a lot of values in me and those are the things that are unshakable in this movie."

Lapira added: "[People] talk about a sense of self and belief system, and how you are not your accomplishments. You are your values, not your accomplishments. Your value is just because you're who you are."

The actress is one of the first Filipino stars with a significant role in a Pixar film.

Ronnie del Carmen, the co-director of the first “Inside Out,” also voiced one of the main characters in the 2023 film “Elemental”.

In recent years, Filipinos and Asians, in general, finally began receiving more opportunities to shine in major Hollywood films.

Lapira agreed that this has been a huge win for Fil-Am representation in Hollywood.

The actress, who described herself as a huge Pixar fan, said: "To be part of “Inside Out” and [as] one of the core emotions — I'm so excited for people to see themselves in me on multiple levels."

In the "Inside Out" sequel, Lapira stars with Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, as well as Tony Hale, and Phyllis Smith.

The award-winning first movie came out in 2015 and introduced joy, disgust, as well as anger, fear, and sadness as the core emotions of a young girl named Riley.

New cast members led by Maya Hawke are introduced and play more complex emotions like anxiety as Riley enters adolescence.

Riley’s story resonates with people of all ages because of how relatable the depiction of her emotions are.

"Our emotions are there — they're not good or bad - they're there to protect us," said Lapira.

"They're there to help us. It's when they go into overdrive or take over or do too much that it can be harmful."

Taking up a lesson from the film, the actress said it was important for one to learn how to embrace emotions and listem to what they are trying to say.

"Fear and Disgust protect you from actual danger. Anxiety helps you prepare," she said. "Anger is good because we would never have any justice or revolutions if you didn't have any righteous anger."

Lapira was overdue for stardom after her scene-stealing performance in the 2011 rom-com “Crazy Stupid Love” starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

It may have taken awhile before she starred in a big Hollywood film like “Inside Out 2,” but Lapira never stopped working.

For many years she was one of few Filipinas constantly seen in tv shows and films.

“Inside Out 2” is now in cinemas in the Philippines and will come out in the U.S. on June 14.
