Young Filipino-Canadians eagerly waited in the rain to watch the headliner artists of ABS-CBN's MYX perform at the recent Lapu-Lapu block party in Vancouver.

First to rock the concert-goers was two-time Grammy nominee R&B artist John Concepcion who wowed the packed crowd with his performance.

Concepcion, who was born and raised in Winnipeg, is now based in Vancouver.

The singer-songwriter has written songs for Chris Brown, He expressed hope that he will be able to open doors for other Filipino-Canadian artists.

Russell!, meanwhile, is a Toronto-based hip-hop R&B singer, who used to be known as D-Pryde. He said he was amazed at the packed crowd despite the rain.

The energetic singer worked the crowd throughout his set, and he danced and engaged with the audience.

Neeko and Blame Soliven of the Juno-nominated Filipino-Canadian hip-hop R&B duo Manila Grey, also performed that night.

"I didn’t know what to expect because I too didn’t see much of the crowd out there," said Grey. "It was awesome. They knew a lot of the songs."

"I’m just so grateful that the energy has been amazing the entire day," she said. "[It's] a testament to the fact that people wanna see more events like this."

Fil-Am R&B singer Gabe Bondoc then took the stage to loud cheers from the audience. The crowd sang the lyrics to his songs and they were later on treated to a duet between Bondoc and Jeremy Passion.

During Passion’s solo performance, even the volunteers sang and danced along backstage.

Passion said Vancouver knows how to party. The crowd, he added, seemed to not get enough of the performers.
