MANILA — The Filipino members of K-pop girl group UNIS are delighted to return to the Philippines to promote their budding musical act in their homeland.

“Mabuhay, Manila!” Elisia Parmisano, one of UNIS’ two Filipino members, shouted as she excitedly greeted the crowd at the group’s fan-signing event at the Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig on Sunday.

“Sobrang saya ko na makabalik dito kasama ang aking mga member,” she added.

(I’m so happy to be back here with my members.)

Her fellow Filipino idol, Gehlee Dangca, added: “Maraming salamat for welcoming UNIS with so much love.”

UNIS is currently in the Philippines for a three-day fan-signing tour, which began Saturday in Cebu. The eight-member band, whose leader Hyeonju is Korean-Filipino, will wrap up the tour at a mall in Taguig on Monday.

Sunday’s event opened with the members signing fans’ copies of their debut extended play, “We UNIS,” which also allowed the girls to engage in brief chats with their supporters.

The octet, also consisting of Korean (Yunha, Yoona and Seowon) and Japanese members (Nana and Kotoko), treated fans with performances of their single “Superwoman” and “Dopamine.”

Formed through the survival show “Universe Ticket,” which aired on Korean broadcaster SBS, UNIS debuted last March 27 with “We UNIS.”

Elisia and Gehlee join a number of Filipino talents in the highly competitive K-pop industry, including Chanty of girl group Lapillus and the all-Pinoy boy band HORI7ON.
