The record is composed of 10 tracks, led by the hip-hop single "Armageddon," which member Karina described as a song about "finding myself in the multiverse."

"[The song is also about] realizing infinite possibilities and it is about how only I can define myself," she said in a YouTube livestream held hours before the album's release.

Ahead of the album, aespa has been appearing on Korean music shows to promote the pre-release song "Supernova."

SM Entertainment said early Monday that pre-orders for "Armageddon" had reached more than a million copies, K-pop news website Soompi reported.

Also consisting of Giselle, Winter and Ningning, aespa debuted in November 2020 under SM Entertainment, home to other popular K-pop acts such as Girls' Generation and Red Velvet.

The quartet is known for its metaverse concept, with each member possessing a virtual counterpart. Its notable past singles include "Next Level," "Savage" and "Spicy."
