MANILA — Park Min-young, known for her portrayals of endearing heroines and undeniable on-screen chemistry with leading men, has cemented her place in the hearts of Filipino K-drama fans.

After years of captivating audiences through the small screen, the South Korean actress finally made her way to Manila to meet, for the first time, the local supporters who have long admired her from afar.

On Sunday, Min-young — best known for playing the titular role in the hit romantic-comedy series “What's Wrong With Secretary Kim” — hosted her “My Brand New Day” fan meet at the SM North EDSA Skydome, where she showcased her versatility as an entertainer, proving herself to be more than just an actress.

One could not help but be stunned by the 38-year-old star, who exuded a radiant aura the moment she appeared on the stage, opening the two-hour show by singing “Bad Liar” from her latest drama “Marry My Husband.”

However, “Bad Liar” was just the beginning of a series of performances prepared by Min-young, allowing her to demonstrate her singing and dancing abilities to the delight of the crowd.

As a self-confessed fan of K-pop girl groups, Min-young thrilled the audience with her rendition of “You & Me” by Blackpink’s Jennie, mimicking its partnered choreography, their silhouettes similarly projected against a luminous moon backdrop.

Produced by CDM Entertainment, the event also provided Min-young with ample opportunities to connect with her fans. During one segment, for instance, she engaged in playful photo sessions with fans, reenacting scenes from “Marry My Husband” with props such as a wedding veil and her character’s iconic glasses.

In another segment, Min-young answered questions from the attendees, where she even suggested a heart design for a fan’s next tattoo.

Min-young also personally designed an eco-friendly bag that was gifted to one lucky fan who had traveled all the way from China for the fan meeting.

Before bidding farewell to her fans with a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” Min-young was treated to a touching video featuring messages of admiration and support from her Filipino fans. She watched attentively, even responding to the heart poses performed by fans on screen with similar gestures.

“The greatest strength that I could get as an actress comes from the love and support of my fans,” she said through an interpreter after watching the video. “I believe the best way to reciprocate that love and support is by striving to become the best actress that I can be for my fans.”

In a heartfelt gesture, Min-young took the time to read aloud a handwritten letter she had prepared specifically for her Filipino fans. “I’m sorry that it took this long to meet our Filipino fans. It would have been better if I had come earlier,” she began.

Min-young emphasized the impact that fans have on her during challenging moments. “When I feel [down], you lift me up. When I feel dried by my emotions, you make me laugh,” she said.

“It’s always my fans who make me want to do my job better. So let’s be happy for a long time,” she added.
