GMMTV vows to resolve 'Cherry Magic' broadcast issues

Thai company GMMTV promised fans that it is resolving the broadcast issues affecting its latest boys' love (BL) series "Cherry Magic" led by Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom.

The Thai adaptation of "Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!" or more commonly known as "Cherry Magic" aired on December 9, 2023 but succeeding episode weren't available in the Philippines.

Fans outside Thailand hads a hard time to access the series until its final episode on March 1.

In a statement posted Saturday, GMMTV admitted that the broadcast of the show outside of Thailand has been suspended until the issue is resolved.

"The company regrets to inform you that we have to suspend all broadcasts of the series on the GMMTV YouTube channel outside of Thailand due to our mistake in the contract regarding the limitations on the scope of permission to broadcast," it said.

"'Cherry Magic' will resume broadcasting outside of Thailand once the broadcast copyright and licensing are handled in each country. The company will provide further updates accordingly. We appreciate all fans for your understanding and unwavering support," it added.

GMMTV thanked the viewers amid their limited access to the show.

"GMMTV would like to thank our fans for your overwhelming support for 'Cherry Magic', which has led every episode to trend at number one on X Thailand and worldwide, as well as achieve top rankings in many other regions across over 14 countries, with over 10 million posts for all episodes."

"Cherry Magic" is a Japanese manga about Adachi who gains the power to know people's thoughts when they touch him after he turns 30 while still being a virgin.

Adachi soon discovers that his co-worker, Kurosawa, has feelings for him and later on develops feelings for him too.

The manga was adapted into a Japanese series with Akaso Eiji as Adachi and Machida Keita as Kurosawa in 2020.

Tay and New belong to the so-called "holy trinity" of the Thai boys' love (BL) series along with Off Jumpol and Gun Atthaphan for "Theory of Love" and Singto Prachaya and Krist Perawat for both "Sotus" and "Sotus S".

"Dark Blue Kiss" is available for streaming on iWantTFC and GMMTV's YouTube page. It revolves around the struggles of Pete (Tawan) and Kao (Thitipoom) in their relationship as the latter has yet to come out to his mother.
