MANILA -- OPM Icon Randy Santiago is back on the concert scene and this time, it’ll be the first for Santiago to pull off a show without his original hit songs and signature ballad tracks.

Entitled "EYE CON," Santiago together with his star-studded line up of guest performers will bring a "club" vibe inside the concert venue.

“Yung concept na ginawa namin medyo ginawa naming dance. It’s a club experience. Tinanggal namin yung mga love songs yung mga ganun, yung beat niya para kang nagpunta ng mga club,” said Santiago.

He added: “It’s a collab of all the artists.”

Santiago will be joined by Rachel Alejandro, Gino Padilla, Pops Fernandez and new artists like JM Yosures, Khimo, Six Part Invention, P-pop group Callista and more.

“Tinanggal ko yung mga kanta ko for this concert. We’re bringing them to the 80’s to the 90’s and present songs na bago, na nilagyan natin ng club theme,” Santiago explained.

The concert takes place on April 12 at the PICC Plenary Hall.

Santiago is also known as a close friend of TV host Willie Revillame, and even used to be the director of Revillame’s variety-game show. With Revillame set to do a TV comeback with TV5, Santiago was asked if he was offered to take the directorial job anew.

“Kapag nag-uusap namin kami nila Willy, alam mo naman yun ‘samahan mo naman ako’, sabi ko ‘sasamahan kita bilang kaibigan’. Siyempre alam naman niya na hindi ko na kaya yung araw-araw kasi I still sing and I do my tour. Mawawala ako like mga US tours and all. Kaya mahirap,” he said.

Santiago added his communication with Revillame never faltered. It’s been years since Revillame had his signature ‘Wowowin’ show on-air, and Santiago revealed that the TV host got bored.

"Iba yung frustration sa inip eh. Oo nainip eh, kasi gusto niyang mag-show nang mag-show. Kaya for a time, nag-Facebook live pero siyempre same cost eh. Facebook live ka o TV, yun din ang lalabas na expenses," he said.
