Sofia Boutella and Michiel Huisman had a laugh while comparing physical preparations for their respective roles in “Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver.”

The French-Algerian actress who started her career in entertainment as a dancer plays Kora, a deadly warrior who is the film’s central character.

Asked about the training, she said it involved a lot of conditioning.

"I wanted to prepare my body to be able to sustain anything that was thrown at me," said Boutella. "So, I did a lot of Pilates. I did a lot of weightlifting."

The actress continued: "I wanted also physically for the body to look a certain way but I also wanted to be able to have endurance because onset you don't do these things just once."

The actress also shared that she learned choreography as she was determined to do most of the stunts.

"There are things that you cannot do without your stunt double ever because they do have to prep the shot for you," she added. "These are people who are so brave and so courageous and so good at what they do."

Huisman, meanwhile, is Gunnar, the gentle farmer whose life was upended when their village was brutally attacked.

"It was just very important to be very good with a scythe and a shovel and a hoe," he said of his role. "So, I focused on that."

The actor described being in the film as an honor and "a dream come true."

"I found it beneficial to not overly prepare the movements because then it would look too good," Huisman added. "It was a bit like: he is not a fighter but when he's forced to step up, he does step up to the plate."

In the story, while arm in arm in fighting for their survival against a fascist regime, Kora and Gunnar fell in love.

Now streaming on Netflix, the movie is a sequel to “Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire.”

Ed Skrein continues his role as Noble, the villain determined to defeat the rebels at all costs.

The two-part story also stars Korean actress Doona Bae, whose epic fight scenes were some of the sequel’s highlights.

To use two swords simultaneously in battle, Bae trained in the Filipino martial art of arnis or kali.
