MANILA -- Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery to fix his torn achilles tendon. 

The actor-politician shared the good news on Friday as he posted a photo of him in the hospital surrounded by his family.

Revilla also expressed his gratitude to all the people who offered their prayers for his successful operation.

"Ang aking taus-pusong pasasalamat sa lahat po ng inyong mga dasal! Done with surgery, and now on the road to recovery. Thanks again for interceding in prayer. God bless us all," he wrote.

In his Facebook live post on Tuesday night,  Revilla said he sustained injury for running too fast while shooting his comeback movie. 

The senator said the healing time after the operation will be three to five months.

Revilla is celebrating his 50th anniversary in the entertainment industry.
