MANILA — A "barkada film" that will see six men deal with different challenges in life.

This is how Enzo Pineda described his latest movie under ALV Entertainment.

Titled "'G! LU'," the movie is top-billed by Pineda together with David Licauco, Kiko Estrada, Derrick Monasterio, Teejay Marquez and Ruru Madrid.

Also part of the cast are beauty queens-turned actors Michelle Dee, Chanel Morales and Katarina Rodriguez who joined the cast at the media conference held at KAO Manila in Newport World Resorts. Carl Guevarra, Sophia Senoron, Ali Forbes and Denver Hernandez are also part of the ensemble.

"Six po kaming lalaki dito dealing with different challenges in life. We decided to go to La Union one last time to settle the problems we had with the barkada and family and of course to have fun," said Pineda.

"This movie sparked my wanting to act," said Rodriguez.

Licauco said the movie will tackle, "Love to family, to gender issues and mental health issues. I think the Gen Z's and millennials nowadays can relate dito sa movie na ito."

Barkada movies are a familiar offering to Pinoy moviegoers - may it be in comedy, horror or romance. But Monasterio believes that their own movie will stand out from past films in the genre for one reason.

"Siguro ang difference ng 'G! LU' sa lahat ng yun, we're really friends. Not just friends, we're really close. So, most of our lines here parang hindi na namin sinusunod, adlibs na lang. This movie reflects how Gen Z's are," Monasterio said.

With the familiar view of San Juan La Union beach as the movie's backdrop, all six actors had to show off their chiseled beach bodies.

"During the film, nagwo-workout kami together in the morning. We do a five-kilometer run, then we lift weights after. I think it was a balanced-healthy lifestyle" said Pineda.

"G! LU" will be in cinemas April 24.
