MANILA — American actor Evan Peters joined Ariana Grande in the music video of "we can't be friends (wait for your love)" aired Friday.

In the more than 4-minute clip, Grande and Peters recreated scenes from the 2004 film "Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind" originally featuring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet.

As a fan of Carrey, Grande earlier revealed that her latest album "eternal sunshine" was inspired by the film, having her promos reference the movie.

Peters is known for his roles as Quicksilver in the recent "X-Men" films and in the biopic "Dahmer" as the titular character.

Grande's seventh studio was album released in the Philippines at 1 p.m. and immediately the hastags #eternalsunshine and Ariana Grande took the top spots on the Philippine trends on X, formerly Twitter, with nearly 300,000 tweets.

Many fans observed Grande's reference to her past relationship with real estate agent Dalton Gomez.

Grande and Gomez started dating in 2020 and got married in 2021 at the singer’s home in Montecito in Southern California.

Several American media outlets earlier said Grande was the one who filed for divorce 2 months after their initial separation was first reported.

Citing a source, People magazine said the split was “kind and patient” and they have both “moved on.”

Following her split with Gomez, Grande was linked to her fellow "Wicked" star Ethan Slater.
