MANILA -- Amidst her grief, Andi Eigenmann was comforted by the outpour of love and tributes for her late mother, Jaclyn Jose.

Eigenmann said she found solace in knowing her mother will continue to live in the hearts of the lives she touched. 

“Maraming salamat sa pagpunta. Everyday it warms my heart. It has been helping me so much better to cope to see how many people cared and love my mother. Especially I know how big my mother’s heart has been. All her life, it has always been about love, it has always been about sharing love, being so passionate about love. Love for everyone else around her,” Eigenmann told the friends and colleagues who condoled with the bereaved family Thursday evening, during PPL Entertainment’s tribute night for the late actress.

Andi's brother, Gabby Eigenmann, agreed that there is comfort in witnessing the depth of love and appreciation for Jose.

“These faces that come up to you, and you see their emotion, alam mo may connection and may pinanggalingan. Tapos yayakap. The hug, that is where I draw — kasi if lumapit ka ng masaya, yayakapin din kita ng masaya, if umiiyak ka, iiyak din ako,” he said.

“May nga connection kasi mararamdaman mo lang sa yakap ng tao. Kaya from time to time, I go to Andi and hug her and absorb the people that hug her, mga emosyon naramdaman niya sa ibang tao to absorb mga naramdaman niya sa tao. Kaya I absorb it for her,” he added. 

Several PPL artists who condoled with the family reflected on Jose's impact on them.

DJ Jhai Ho, who hosted the tribute night, reminisced about Jose’s nurturing nature.

“Very motherly siya, hindi lang sa biological na anak. Imagine hindi kami always magkasama pero relationship mayroon kayo, very solid. Grabe siya magbigay ng words of encouragement. ...Kahit 'di kayo magkadugo, ma-feel mo part ka ng company niya,” he said. 

He added he felt lucky he was able to get to know Jose beyond her persona as a formidable actress. 

“Hindi lahat may gano'ng access sa isang legend at makilala siya. Sad talaga. I am praying for her soul. Kami nga na kaibigan at naging malapit lang dahil sa industriya, nalulungkot, paano pa laya si Andi and family?” he added.

Several personalities also serenaded the grieving crowd. KZ Tandingan, for instance, sang an emotional rendition of “Always Remember Us This Way” at the wake of veteran actress.
