MANILA — Actress Gela Atayde dismissed rumors that her sister Ria Atayde is supposedly pregnant.

The speculation swirled after Ria recently got engaged to actor Zanjoe Marudo.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Gela clarified that the speculation is not true, as Ria has been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), making it difficult for her to conceive immediately.

However, she added that the couple wants to start a family, as Ria is at the right age for motherhood.

“For me I can’t say much yet. For now, no. They’re trying that’s for sure. My sister has PCOS and it would be a miracle if she has a child. Well, at least my parents also are supportive for that my sister nga kasi is at the age — turning 32 this year medyo kailangan na din,” Gela told ABS-CBN News.

Zanjoe's wedding proposal to Ria was simple and sweet, her sister said.

"I love Kuya Z, I was so happy that when they told me, I cried. I love how Kuya Z proposed to her, he just did it in bed just both of them just woke up so we weren’t there," she said.

The couple has yet to announce the date of their wedding and it is still uncertain if the ceremony will take place this year.

Ria and Zanjoe confirmed their engagement in February.

It was just in October 2022 when screen veteran Sylvia Sanchez admitted that Marudo was courting Atayde.

Zanjoe confirmed that he is in a relationship with Ria in January 2023.

Aside from co-starring in the 2017 series “My Dear Heart,” Zanjoe and Ria have been frequently spotted in the same showbiz circles.
