MANILA -- Pop Star Royalty Sarah Geronimo is back on speaking terms with her mother, Divine Geronimo.

Geronimo made the confirmation with her husband Matteo Guidicelli in an interview with ABS-CBN News' Dyan Castillejo, as she revealed that her mother congratulated her for her latest achievements.

"Yes! Thank you Lord," Geronimo said, when asked if they are on speaking terms. "I love you, Ma!" 

"Love you 'Ma. We love our moms," Guidicelli added.

Last Friday, Geronimo was recognized as the Woman of the Year by Billboard Philippines. This, after she became the first Filipina to be honored with the Global Force award at the Billboard Women in Music event held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California weeks ago.

"Super unexpected 'yun. The first time I learned about it, na-surprise talaga ako. Sobrang inspiring also for an artist like me. Nagpahinga ako, took a break, then I released new songs. Medyo I questioned, 'Gusto ba ng mga tao songs na nilalabas ko?' And then this came, parang I feel na 'wow, may nakaka-appreciate ng ginagawa ko still.' Very thankful, very grateful for the honor na ibinagay sa akin represent our country and Philippine music on a global stage," Geronimo said of the Billboard award.

Guidicelli added: "She's killing it, she's really successful but she never ever wants the credit solely on herself. She always credits the people that build her art together with her. She always tells me, 'Love, it’s always a collaborative effort.'"

In Billboard event in US weeks ago, Geronimo gave a shoutout to her mother, calling her a "hero."

"Totoo naman mga mommies po natin ang heroes natin. Our parents ang heroes natin," Geronimo said.

It will be recalled that Geronimo's secret wedding with Guidicelli resulted in a rift with her parents.

But in 2021, speculations surfaced that Geronimo and her mother have already reconciled, after Geronimo turned to social media to promote the farm products her mother was selling at the time.
