MANILA -- Rivermaya frontman Mark Escueta on Thursday took to social media to share his heartfelt birthday message for his old bandmate, Bamboo Mañalac.

Sharing a photo of them together on Instagram, Escueta praised Bamboo for his dedication and professionalism as an artist. They had a reunion concert last month with Rico Blanco and Nathan Azarcon.

"Happy birthday, Coach Bamboo!" he said, referring to Bamboo's stint as a "The Voice Philippines" coach. "[From] '94 to '98 lang siya sa Rivermaya but during the months of preparation for the reunion show, and especially noong show mismo, the level of professionalism and dedication he showed was 200%. As if he never left."

"To me, it wasn't him just doing a 'special show'. Bumalik talaga siya sa Rivermaya at naging magkabanda kami ulit noong panahon na 'yon. You can't fake that and I'm sure naramdaman din 'yon ng mga nakanood ng reunion concert, TV guestings, and even sa rehearsals pa lang," he declared.

Bamboo was the frontman of Rivermaya until the late '90s. He was replaced by Blanco, who left the band in 2007.
