“I always want to go back to the Philippines and work there. And I hope I have the opportunity to go back,” Maurer told ABS-CBN News during the red carpet ceremonies of the 17th Asian Film Awards (AFA) last March 10 in Hong Kong, where he was hailed as a youth ambassador of the AFA Academy.

Maurer has had a strong affinity with Filipinos when he did the movie ‘Suddenly It’s Magic’ with Star Cinema back in 2012, with Erich Gonzales. The movie did well in the box-office and Maurer did a number of promo appearances.

For the first time in the history of the AFA Academy, it appointed not one but four celebrities to stand as its youth ambassadors. Joining Maurer are Taiwanese actor Liu Kuan-Ting, Japanese-American actor-model Miyazawa Hio and Hong Kong-based actor Will Or.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to promote Asian films, because Asian films for me is very unique, it’s something that should expand worldwide,” said Maurer.
