MANILA -- Two months after her 90th birthday celebration, Philippine movie and television icon Gloria Romero was given a tribute by industry luminaries at the Manila Hotel, Wednesday night.

Organized by Romero’s good friend Daisy Romualdez, veteran actors and actresses, singers, lawmakers, industry friends and peers, gathered at the historic event to celebrate the legacy, success and life of the movie queen.

According to Romualdez, she only had a month to prepare for the event and agreed to organize everything to express her love for Romero, whom she treats as a sister.

“I am so happy kasi ang dami-dami sa aking tumawag na artista, nandiyan sila lahat. Ngayon lang kami ulit nagkita-kita. And for the first time, dahil siya talaga ang ating queen - the icon of Philippine movies,” she said.

Perez shared her most unforgettable moments and anecdotes with Romero during the twelve years that they starred in the ABS-CBN sitcom "Palibhasa Lalake."

“Mommy Glo. Siya po ang naging nanay ko for 12 years sa ‘Palibaha Lalake’. Honored na naaalala nila ako, masaya ako na magbibigay tayo ng tribute para kay Tita Glo. Ang wish ko kay Tita Glo ay manatiling healthy, malakas at maganda,” said Perez.

Carol Banawa, who is currently in the US, sent a taped performance where she sang the theme song of the movie "Tanging Yaman," where she co-starred with Romero. Primetime king Coco Martin also sent his greetings for Gloria via taped video greeting.

Romero was with her daughter Maritess and grandson Chris.
