(UPDATED) Singer Gary Valenciano performed in front of fans in his concert at the Araneta Coliseum despite battling an illness.

His wife Angeli Pangilinan disclosed details of his condition on the first night of his "Pure Energy: One More Time" concert.

She said Valenciano's condition delayed the concert but he still went on with the show, with doctors on standby backstage.

"He ingested something and vomited so many times in the last two hours. He wasn’t sure he could do this concert. The doctors were backstage and he had an IV … and he said he wants to do it! But he has since sang six songs.. changing the repertoire … please continue to pray," said Pangilinan.

She did not disclose Valenciano's specific illness.

"Mr. Pure Energy" earlier disclosed that he has been living with diabetes since he was 14 years old.

"Diabetes can be deceiving of all illnesses. Sometimes, you think you’re ok, but things can be going on inside of you if you don’t take care of yourself the way you should."

"It was my faith that has kept me going up here (mind), up in here (heart). And I’ve been provided with a lot of things that have been able to make things easier. And I say easier because it is a challenge to take care of diabetes," he said.

However, Valenciano failed to finish his concert. Midway through the show, his team decided to bring the singer to the hospital.

According to Pangilinan, her husband was seriously dehydrated after he ate or took something that caused him to throw up so many times.

He was discouraged to do the show but insisted. He did about 7-8 songs and asked the crowd if it was okay for him to end the show early.

Valenciano later assured his fans that he's okay.

"Hey guys I'm getting better. Good people taking care of me. I'll be okay, don't worry. God bless!"

There were also "accidents" before the concert, his wife said, even as she appealed for prayers.

"Our accounting clerk broke her arm, then our technical director just broke his arm too … and now the main man (Valenciano) … please whisper a prayer for him! We can do all things through Christ who strengthens him. In Jesus’ name."
