Look up in the sky, Superfans. It’s finally here.

James Gunn, director of the Guardians of The Galaxy trilogy, has unleashed the first teaser of “Superman”, the new film that takes the entire DC Universe in a new direction.

With an electric guitar version of John Williams’ famous score on the background, the new teaser shows a bloodied Superman played by David Corenswet crashing into the North Pole. He then starts to whistle, which brings Krypto the Superdog, Kal-El’s best friend from the planet Krypton. Superman then asks Krypto: “Take me home.”

We get glimpses of Corenswet as mild-mannered journalist Clark Kent of the Daily Planet, Rachel Brosnahan as ace reporter and Superman love interest Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult, who also auditioned for the Superman role, playing Superman’s arch nemesis Lex Luthor and Pruitt Taylor Vince as Clark Kent’s father Jonathan Kent.

We also see Superman saving a girl from a rampaging Kaiju, a boy in the fictional nation of Boravia calling for Superman, Eli Gathegi  and Anthony Carrigan making their debuts as Mister Terrific and Metamorpho, Isabela Merced flying in as Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern Guy Gardner entering Stagg Industries for a chat with the Last Son of Krypton.

Director James Gunn earlier told reporters Superman will start right in the middle of the action, with many of his relationships already established.

Superman opens in Philippine theaters on July 9, 2025.
