K-pop star Irene of Red Velvet is set to release an extended play (EP) in late November, launching her solo career a decade after debuting with her girl group.

Irene's solo debut was announced late Sunday on Red Velvet's X account (formerly Twitter), with a teaser image featuring an animated version of the 33-year-old idol surrounded by butterflies and flowers.

The EP titled "Like A Flower" is scheduled for release on November 26, based on the post.

Irene, whose real name is Bae Joo-hyun, will become the fourth of Red Velvet's five members to debut as a soloist, following Wendy, Joy and Seulgi.

Launched by K-pop giant SM Entertainment, Red Velvet — which also includes Yeri — debuted in 2014 with the single "Happiness."

The group's music is known for its two distinct themes: the "red" concept, featuring upbeat, catchy pop songs with lively energy, and the "velvet" concept, which highlights a more sophisticated R&B style. Some of their notable singles include "Red Flavor," "Bad Boy," and "Psycho."

Irene is also part of a Red Velvet sub-unit with fellow member Seulgi, which debuted in 2020. She has also ventured into acting, starring alongside Shin Seung-ho in the 2021 film "Double Patty."

In September, Red Velvet performed at the Mall of Asia Arena for their "Happiness: My Dear, ReVe1uv" fan concert tour , which celebrated their 10th debut anniversary.
