MANILA — South Korean actor Choi Jin-hyuk proved his versatility as he entertained his Filipino fans with performances, games and even hugs during his first fan-con in Manila on Saturday.

The 38-year-old actor started his "Day and Night" fan-con by serenading his fans with his soothing vocals. He also performed a cover of Kim Bum-soo’s “I Miss You”, a song he specially chose to convey his message to his Filipino fans, who are meeting him in person for the first time.

He then sat down and talked about his role in the fantasy romance series "Miss Night and Day," sharing some fun facts about the series. Choi was also surprised with the fans’ enthusiastic reactions to some of the comedic scenes shown on screen.

Choi also took on some challenges, including flipping a bottle, transferring monggo beans using a pair of chopsticks, and stacking plastic cups, all of which he successfully complete within the given time period.

Choi likewise answered some of his fans’ questions, sharing that among the roles he has played over the years, he identifies the most with Oh Chang Min from “Emergency Couple”.

The New Frontier Theater erupted in deafening screams as Choi returned on stage with a performance of Jungkook’s “Standing Next To You”, before taking on Day6’s “Time of Our Lives”.

Some lucky fans also received surprise gifts from Choi, including autographed photos and hugs. A lucky fan also got the chance to reenact the almost kiss scene between Choi and Jung Eun-ji in “Miss Day and Night”.

Choi ended his three-hour show with a performance of an unreleased song, which he said he specially made for his fan-con tour.

“The love that you are giving to me as a foreign actor is really amazing and unbelievable, so I’ll keep this in my heart as well, and also work on a better project for you,” Choi told his fans.

“If there is any opportunity, I will definitely come back to Manila to have a better time with you,” he added.

In 2013, Choi first gained attention for his role as the older half-brother to Lee Min-ho's character in the hit teen drama "The Heirs." He then did lead roles in shows such as "The Last Empress," "Zombie Detective," and "Numbers."
