On Friday, Netflix unveiled the teaser for the second season, set to premiere on December 26. It opens with the revelation that Gi-hun, a past winner of the games, has re-entered the deadly arena.

Drawing on his experience, he advises the other players to stay completely still during the Red Light, Green Light round. However, chaos erupts when a bee startles a female player, causing her to move and triggering her fatal elimination.

Later, the players are asked to vote on whether they wish to continue with the games, similar to the past season. Gi-hun urges them to leave, but some players question whether he is working for the game's organizers, prompting him to shout, "I've played these games before!"

The teaser also shows returning cast members Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man, who oversees the games, and Wi Ha-joon as police officer Hwang Jun-ho, who appears to have survived his fall from the previous season and continues to investigate the games.

The clip also gives audiences a glimpse of the new cast members, including Yim Si-wan, Choi Seung-hyun (also known as BIGBANG's T.O.P) and Jo Yu-ri.

Premiering in 2021, "Squid Game" follows hundreds of financially challenged people who compete for cash in deadly versions of children's games.

Director and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk earlier said the series will conclude with a third season in 2025.
