MANILA – "The Gatekeeper," iWantTFC's latest horror original, was screened on Wednesday evening at the Dolphy Theater.

The film has drawn attention for its unique blend of horror, biblical themes, and Filipino folklore.

"Para sa akin, it was really unreal," lead actress Shanaia Gomez said of the experience. "Kasi when you're shooting the movie, sometimes you shoot some of the ending first, or sometimes you shoot different scenes or different parts. But to see it all together, ang ganda... It just felt so unreal to see everything, and I'm really glad sa reactions ng mga viewers."

"Doon ako medyo natuwa, parang may tao talaga na sumisigaw," she added.

Jayda Avanzado, Gomez's friend, was also present at the special screening and said she was "shocked" at some scenes.

"Without revealing too much, siyempre maraming jump scares," said Avanzado. "Masasabi ko kung bakit ito kailangan abangan, siyempre kasi feeling ko, nage-evolve ang mga horror movies ngayon. This is definitely a different take, and I just know so much work has been into this."

Avanzado said she gained some valuable insights from the movie, particularly for its historical accuracy and the theological aspects that it tackled. "Maganda rin 'yung ibang mga mapupulot sa kwento na 'to," she said.

"The Gatekeeper" is the story of Cita (Gomez) and her encounters with demonic forces, particularly her discovery of a peculiar cabinet that serves as a portal to the underworld. This positions her as the gatekeeper between two realms.

Director Matthew Rosen previously shared that extensive research into biblical mysteries and Filipino folklore was crucial in shaping the narrative.

“The Gatekeeper” is set to premiere for streaming on iWantTFC starting this Saturday, October 19.
