Michelle van Eimeren, the former wife of Ogie Alcasid, came to the defense of Regine Velasquez this week.

Regine Velasquez is weary of defending her transfer to ABS-CBN, and rightly so. She shouldn't have to justify why she wanted to breathe new life into her career after 20 years with GMA-7 to judgemental strangers. "Hindi ako pumatay ng tao," she said.

And among those who agree with her is her husband's ex-wife, Michelle van Eimeren, who told her: "Don't allow these negative people to diminish in any way this new chapter in your life."

The Australian beauty queen described Velasquez's critics as "small-minded people" and that it is for the best if she just ignores the "awful" and "hurtful" words thrown at her for her decision.

"You are a beautiful soul, Regine," Van Eimeren wrote.

"There is a great deal more for you to offer this world. There is a reason that God chose for you to take this role, and your kindness and tolerance show beyond any measure your enlightenment above those clearly needing the meaning of love."

"I am truly happy that I got to see the joy and happiness within you on your visit. ...Allow that joy and your incredible talent to be shared with those that appreciate it most.

"You know we can't please everyone, but that's on them not you my dear friend. I am always here."

Her message was posted by Ogie Alcasid, her former husband and the current partner of Velasquez, on Twitter.

Van Eimeren's encouraging words came after Velasquez found herself penning a note in response to the "hate" she received, and the threat from her past supporters to boycott her new shows.

It was also after the songbird had to address rumors that she was offered P500 million to complete her transfer.

"Please do not worry about me I'm actually OK. But there is time for everything. Time to laugh, time to cry and time to love. Time to feel hurt, time to feel angry, time to fight, time for healing and time to forgive," Velasquez said.

Since signing with the Kapamilya network, Velasquez has appeared in ABS-CBN shows such as "ASAP" ang "GGV."

She is also set to record the theme song of an upcoming soap, have a role in a sitcom, and serve as one of the judges of a singing contest.
