In 2015, Locsin explained that years of intensive training for various roles, including, at the time, her upcoming return as the superheroine Darna, had taken a toll on her physical condition. Combined with other factors, this led to her developing a bulging disc injury.

“Ongoing pa rin naman siya, para i-ready ko rin ‘yung katawan ko para sa next-day taping. Kung alam kong may mabigat na fight scene, gabi pa lang nagpa-pa-PT (physical therapy) na ako, para pagdating du’n, walang problema,” she explained.

Aside from “The General’s Daughter,” two film projects are lined up for Locsin — one with Star Cinema, and the other, an independent production. However, Locsin stressed, she will take them up one at a time.
