MANILA—Romnick Sarmenta is returning to his action roots with his addition to the cast of the long-running primetime series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

Sarmenta, a former matinee idol, debuted in the ABS-CBN program in its September 6 episode.

Not much is known about his character yet, but Sarmenta is seen doing a transaction with a group of thugs on behalf of a mysterious boss.

The exchange turns ugly, with Sarmenta’s character pulling out his twin guns and shooting down four men.

His introduction is intercut with scenes of Cardo (Coco Martin) taking on a new case related to a drug syndicate, hinting the involvement of his character in the story.

Sarmenta, who last starred in the primetime drama “Halik,” is the latest guest star to join “Ang Probinsyano” after the likes of Lorna Tolentino, Judy Ann Santos, and Baron Geisler in recent months.
