MANILA – The teen edition of "The Voice of the Philippines" closed out its debut season on a high note.

The show's two-part finale registered nationwide ratings of 38.2 percent and 40.3 percent last Saturday and Sunday, respectively, according to Kantar Media.

At the program's final episode, 14-year-old Jona Soquite was named the very first teen edition grand champion.

Soquite, who was coached by Sarah Geronimo, edged out the competition with her soaring rendition of "I Believe I Can Fly" on Sunday.

She also performed Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" and "Better Days" with Geronimo during the first part of the finale on Saturday.

As the winner, Soquite took home P1 million, a house and lot, a recording and management contract and a business package, among others.

Soquite was followed by Isabela Vinzon from Bamboo Manalac’s team, Mica Becerro from Lea Salonga’s team and Jeremy Glinoga from Sharon Cuneta’s team.

Hosted by Toni Gonzaga and Luis Manzano, ABS-CBN’s "The Voice Teens" is one of many international versions of the talent search, including the format for adults and kids.
