MANILA -- Actor Sam Milby admitted that he was surprised over reports that his former girlfriend, model, TV host and blogger Mari Jasmine, is now in a relationship with a female director.

Mari Jasmine recently revealed in an Instagram post that she is currently in a relationship with “Baka Bukas” director Samantha Lee.

In an interview on Tuesday at the grand media launch of his upcoming drama series "Halik," Milby said he was surprised by the news.

"I didn't expect, there was no sign. So, I was surprised lang noong nalaman ko," he said. "I don't really want to say too much. I knew a while before pero noong kami, no signs, wala. I didn't know that she's open to that kind of relationship so I had no idea."

"It's not my story to tell," he quickly added. "From my understanding, it's her first time to experience relationship with a woman. But walang overlapping. There was no 'yung siya yung third party kaya kami nag-break, it's not like that. We broke up and she started dating."

Milby stressed that he and Mari Jasmine remain friends.

"If she's happy, then I'm happy for her. No bitterness in that sense kasi 'yun nga no overlapping," Milby said.

"Sometimes you really hope na magwo-work out ang relationship but sometimes it doesn't," he said.
