MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Manuel "Boy" Quizon, Dolphy’s eldest child, said his father treated all of his 18 children from his six relationships equally but noted that the veteran actor had a certain fondness for his daughters.

“Siyempre bilang eldest sa kanilang lahat, alam ko na mayroon kaunting paborito dyan, lalo na sa mga babae, mas mahal ng daddy ko yung mga babae kong kapatid. Okay lang iyun,” Manuel told Umagang Kay Ganda’s Punto por Punto.

Manuel said Dolphy followed a system that allowed him to be with all his children during special occasions.

“Mayroon siyang schedule, let's say Pasko, na mauuna siya sa ganitong bahay na pupuntahan, halimbawa dalawang oras dito, dalawang oras doon… Sometimes nagkakaroon naman kami ng reunion,” he said.

Manuel said he will miss everything about his father, especially the kindness he showed to other people.

Dolphy had a total of 18 children but never got married.

He fathered six children with Engracita Dominguez namely: Manuel, Salud, Rodolfo Jr., Wilfredo, Edgardo and Raul.

He had 4 children with Alice "Baby" Smith: Ronaldo, Enrico, Madonna and Jeffrey.

He had 4 more children with Gloria Smith: Mariquita, Carlos, Geraldino and Edwin.

He has one child, Rommel, by Evangeline Tagulao and another child, Vandolph, by Alma Moreno.

He has a biological daughter, Zia, by singer Zsa Zsa Padilla. The couple also adopted a girl, Nicole.

Eric Quizon teased for being Dolphy's 'anak sa labas'

Director-actor Eric Quizon recalled how his father defended him from people who teased him for being an “anak sa labas” (bastard).

Eric, who has served as his family’s main spokesman since news of Dolphy’s worsening condition came out, said his father never made him feel that he was less important for being born out of wedlock.

“That time tinutukso nila ako na ‘anak sa labas, anak sa labas!’ So parang masakit iyun kasi at that age hindi mo iniisip yun eh,” Eric told ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda in an interview at The Heritage Park in Taguig City.

“Sabi niya (Dolphy), ‘wala iyun, walang anak sa labas. Anak kita paano ka magiging anak sa labas,’” he added.

Eric, along with Ronaldo, Madonna and Jeffrey, are Dolphy’s children with Alice Smith.

No one believed Dolphy was my dad

Eric said at first, no one believed that Dolphy was his father.

He said he had to bring his father to school at the Ateneo to prove to his classmates that the famous actor was his father.

He said Dolphy did not hesitate to accompany him to school, even it was not yet widely known that the actor has another family.

Sabi niya 'halika ikot tayo.'"

I'll endure the pain

Eric said the death of a loving father has yet to fully sink in.

"Maybe hindi pa siya nagsi-sink in sa akin ngayon but definitely I know, mami-miss ko siya, at alam ko na mararamdaman ko lahat ng pain, and that is something I have to endure, something I have to go through," he said.

Dolphy was a real warrior during the last months of his life, Eric said of his dad, who had several bouts of pneumonia.

Eric said his dad served as the entire family’s source of strength.

“I guess my dad’s my inspiration, like I said, yung time na iyun alam kong naghihirap siya, na kinakaya niya. So what more pa kami na may lakas pa kami physically… My dad’s always been an inspiration for me. I will always look up to him. He has always been my rock.”
