T.O.P of Korean boy group Big Bang went straight to meet his fans after he got discharged from his mandatory military service Saturday.

In a post on his Instagram account Sunday, T.O.P posted photos of him meeting his fans as he thanked them for their continuous support.

"Even though I am not proud of myself, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the fans who made time and efforts to share this moment with me," he wrote in the caption.

The group's rapper, whose real name is Choi Seung-hyun, started his military service in February 2017 as a police officer.

However, he was removed from the police force four months later after his drug conviction.

Choi continued his mandatory service as a public service worker at Yongsan in January 2018.

He is the first member of Big Bang to finish his military service.

The three remaining members of the group are also expected to finish their military service within the year.

G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) enlisted in February 2018, followed by Taeyang (Dong Young-bae) and Daesung (Kang Dae-sung) in March of the same year.

The news of Choi's release from his military service comes after a series of scandals that rocked the group and its agency, YG Entertainment.

In February, former member Seungri (Lee Seung-hyun) got embroiled in a series of controversies, prompting him to announce his departure from the group and his retirement from the entertainment industry.

Just last month, Yang Hyun-suk, founder and chief producer of YG Entertainment, also announced his resignation amid drug and sex scandals that have rocked his company.
