MANILA — Screen veteran Christopher de Leon is mourning the death of his mother, former actress Lilia Dizon, who passed away at age 92 on Monday.

On Tuesday afternoon, de Leon joined a virtual media conference for "Love Thy Woman," the ABS-CBN drama that has finally resumed after three months off air, via Kapamilya Channel.

De Leon was asked about how he is coping with the passing of his mother, just a day after.

"We're OK. We've been ready for this. She had lingering cancer for several years already," he said, referring to Dizon's lung condition.

Dizon, Claire Strauss in real life, started her film career after World War II. She starred in several LVN Pictures. With her husband, actor-director Gil de Leon, she had three children, including Christopher.

"She's already 90 years old, so bonus-bonus na 'yan for her, and sa amin. And now she is in Heaven with our dear Lord God," de Leon said on Tuesday.

Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, de Leon's family is not holding a wake for their mother. Dizon's remains were due to be cremated at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig on Monday, and were to be brought home afterwards.
