He was the one who introduced teen rapper Shanti Dope to a big record label. But as Gloc-9 explained, all he did was just that --he only paved the way for the meeting to happen.

He did not teach him anything, nor can he claim responsibility for cultivating such a raw talent and molding it into what many consider as the next big thing in the local rap scene.

"Inabot ko lang po talaga siya sa Universal Records," he told "Tonight With Boy Abunda," furthering that he met Shanti Dope through his producer. "Hindi ko po masasabi na ako nag nag-discover kay Shanti kasi buo na talaga siya noong nakita ko siya."

Gloc-9 lent his vocals to one of Shanti Dope's hits, "Shantidope." In it, he was rapping about how he was searching for a successor ---"Ang dami dami daming maiingay doon sa amin / O kay tagal ko nang nag-iikot para hanapin / Kung sinong sumusulat at humihingang malalim / At di hilaw ang kanin kapag siya ang nagsasaing."

Asked about his decision to introduce Shanti Dope, Gloc-9 said he only wanted to introduce a new voice to the industry, which he has been part of for more than 2 decades. "Nasa punto na rin ako na sa tagal ko nang ginagawa ito siguro panahon na rin para mag-introduce ako ng mas bagong puwedeng rapper," Gloc-9 said.

He even shared that Universal Records, which manages his own career, was first concerned with signing another rapper. But Gloc-9 said: "If anything po, makakatulong pa sa akin iyong bata."

Gloc-9 was on the late-night talk show to promote his six-track EP, "Rotonda," which features Shanti Dope.
