Moira dela Torre, the breakout singer behind the hits "Malaya" and "Tagpuan," appears to be learning how to better handle "bashers" as she addressed Thursday a harsh comment, which she said nearly made her cry.

A post shared by Moira Dela Torre (@moirarachelle) on

On Twitter, the Star Music artist shared that she had received a message telling her, "Ang daming mas magaling sa 'yo, mamatay ka na, laos ka na."

"To be honest," dela Torre wrote, "I wasn't ready for it and almost cried until I realized -- comparison, hate, bashers only have power when I give them power."

She continued: "I know very well that there are so many other people who are immensely more talented and more deserving than I am, but that only makes me even more grateful to be given what I have now."

Dela Torre, formerly a voice artist whose work included commercial jingles, initially sought to enter showbiz via "The Voice of the Philippines " in 2013. She passed the auditions, but was unable to advance as a finalist.

Her breakthrough followed three years later, when "Malaya," her original song that was included in the soundtrack of the "Camp Sawi," topped charts and ultimately paved the way to her signing with ABS-CBN's music arm.

In February, she staged her first major solo concert, which had a repeat a night later due to public demand after tickets to the first show were sold out.

Explaining on Thursday why she decided to share her story, dela Torre said: "I know that in my time here, I want to be someone who lifts others up, who shows people that we can shine without pulling others down knowing that God has wonderful plans for each one, and that He created a world big enough for all of us."
