MANILA -- Regine Tolentino has confirmed that she has split with husband Lander Vera Perez.

The 35-year-old actress and entrepreneur revealed to entertainment site Pep that she has already "cut-off" ties with Perez almost a year ago. They were married for 18 years.

“I’ve been happy naman (in my marriage). Kaya para matapos siya ng ganun na lang, sometimes ang hirap talagang tanggapin,” she told Pep.

Just last February, Tolentino, in an interview with showbiz site Push, denied that she and her husband have already called it quits but admitted that their relationship has hit a rough patch.

According to Tolentino, separating from her husband was quite a challenge, especially because they have two daughters.

"At first, kaming tatlo, lost na lost kami kung papaano kami kikilos, tatlong babae lang," she said.

Despite that, Tolentino said she and her daughters eventually learned to be more independent and united.

“I think, mas lalo kaming tumibay, mas lalo kaming naging independent, mas lalo kaming naging solid na mag-iina," she said.

When asked to share her realizations, Tolentino jokingly said, "nothing is really forever."

Tolentino said she is currently in the process of making their separation legal, which may take a long time.

In the meantime, she wants to focus on her career and being a mother.
