MANILA – Bianca Gonzalez admitted she wasn’t ready for the longest time to have a second child.

Explaining that she considers herself more of a career woman, Gonzalez feels like she is not a “natural mother.”

“Hirap talaga ako magpalaki ng bata, mag-alaga. Yung every day na mag-alaga ng bata, feeling ko it’s so not natural to me unlike some other women na parang second nature ang motherhood. Ako hindi talaga,” she said.

Nonetheless, she and her husband JC Intal feel fortunate that when they finally decided to give their two-year-old daughter Lucia a sibling, they did not have a hard time.

“I breastfed my daughter for two years. Parang hirap na hirap talaga ako. Niraraos ko talaga every day. Nung nag two years yung anak ko, she weaned from breastfeeding on her own. Saka ko sinabi sa husband ko na, ‘Sige we can start trying,’” Gonzalez said.

“We were lucky kasi just a few months of trying, we got pregnant right away. I know of so many couples na nahihirapan to get pregnant so I just feel more than anything na ang swerte namin na nung ginusto namin, it didn’t take so long.”

Now four and a half months into her pregnancy, Gonzalez said she doesn’t have any cravings just yet.

“I can’t eat pa, grabe ako magsuka. Hindi lang morning, but all-day sickness. I lost so much weight when I got pregnant. Ten times ako sumusuka. Na-traumatize ako kasi kay Lucia, effortless. Ito talaga, I lost nine pounds. Now better na, mga three times a day na lang ako sumusuka,” she said.

Meanwhile, Gonzalez shared that both Intal and Lucia are looking forward to meet the newest addition to their family.

“Happy [si JC]. Iba yata ang excitement ng mother sa father. Iba yung mix of emotions ng nanay sa tatay na excited lang talaga. Iba yung hirap ng nanay,” she said. “[Si Lucia] medyo gets na niya yung concept ng pagiging ate. We’ll see. Kasi marami ding kuwento na second baby, nagseselos yung panganay.”

But even after she gives birth, Gonzalez is certain she won’t stop working.

“Maybe not. I’ve been asking advice from friends. Lahat sila sinasabi na technically mas madali ang pangalawa kasi alam mo na from the first. Hindi ka na kasing praning nung first kasi medyo alam mo na tapos hindi ka na nagwo-worry about every little thing. Nagwo-worry ka pa rin siyempre pero iba daw yung pangalawa talaga sa una,” she said.

Gonzalez first announced her pregnancy on social media on Wednesday.
